- This collection includes 25 manuscripts of articles written by Thomas Mills Carter for his column "It Takes All Kinds," published in the Bulletin of American Historical Collection, a quarterly periodical was published by the American Association of the Philippines. There are also two issues of the Bulletin from October, 1977 (vol. 5, no. 4) and January-March, 1978 (vol. 6, no.1). The articles offer character sketches and vignettes of American culture during the late 1940s and early 1950s. There are also two articles about Carter's father's work as a Quaker minister in Newberg, Oregon (1917-1923) and in Winchester, Indiana (1928-1934)

- Thomas Mills Carter, born January 14, 1915, was the son of Frederic Earl Carter, a Quaker minister. His father served churches in Newberg, Oregon, from 1917 to 1923, and Winchester, Indiana, from 1928 to 1934. In 1929, Pastor Carter served as Superintendent of the Indiana Yearly Meeting of Quakers. When only 13 years old, Thomas Carter drove a car and served as his father's driver. As an adult, Thomas Carter lived in the Philipppines where he was a consultant in ground water and hydrology. He contributed to the Bulletin of American Historical Collection, published in Manila. His column for that periodical was entitled "It Takes All Kinds." Carter died on March 14, 2003.
