Biographical or historical data

Arcada Balz, born ca. 1880, was active in the Indiana Federation of Women's Clubs, where she served as president (1935 - 1937). Arcada was also president of the New Harmony Memorial Commission (1939 - 1950s). Aside from her organizational work, Mrs. Balz was involved in politics. She was elected as a Republican to the Indiana State Senate, where she served from 1943 to 1950. Arcada Balz was married to Frederick C. Balz, owner of the Star Millinery Company in Indianapolis, IN. Arcada Balz died in 1973.
