- There are three pieces of paper, all photostats, in this collection. Two photostats are of the treaty made with the Miami Indians at Sy. Mary's in Ohio on October 6, 1818. The third photostat is President John Quincy Adams' approval of the treaty, which is dated 1827
- Biographical or historical data
- The Treaty of St. Mary's was signed on October 6, 1818, in Saint Mary's, Ohio, between the United States government, the Miami tribe and other territorial leaders. This treaty was drafted as part of a large-scale effort by the United States to purchase land from indigenous people and move them to lands west of the Mississippi River.
