Context of The volunteers' roll of honor : a collection of the noble and praiseworthy deeds performed in the cause of the Union by the heroes of the Army and Navy of the United States : in this collection the greatest care has been taken to obtain and record the proper name of each soldier or seaman who has, during the Great Rebellion, rendered himself famous by reason of his bravery or devotion to the Union cause, and also the correct number and letter of his regiment and company, or name of the vessel in which he served : the roll of honor will be a most brilliant addition to American literature : to be published in monthly numbers, each number complete in itself, and elegantly illustrated with original engravings executed in the highest style of art
