- Summary
- Lady Camilla Tressilian lives with her companion and secretary, Mary Aldin, at Gull's Point. As the late summer approaches, Lady Tressilian is hosting a series of guests. Tennis player Nevile Strange has brought his beautiful young wife Kay to Gull's Point to meet the woman who helped raised him. As it happens, Audrey, his ex-wife, arrives for her annual visit. No one can quite understand why either party would agree to this rather awkward reunion, and the other houseguests can only observe as things grow steadily more uncomfortable between Nevile and his two wives. When Lady Tressilian is found bludgeoned to death in her bed, Superintendent Battle begins his murder investigation using his strategy of faking stupidity in order to let the suspects think that they're outwitting him. So what do the guests at Gull's Point have in common?
