- Biographical or historical data
- Spring Steel Fence and Wire Company was founded in 1907 by William Sherman Poling and incorporated under the present title in 1909. The plant occupies four acres. The products (fencing, gates and other wire products) are sold locally, across the United States and to various countries around the world. In 1912, the company employed forty employees. Mr. Poling was president in 1914, Frederick E. Holloway vice president and Guy J. Derthrick, secretary-treasury. In 1916, the president was W.H. Alford, forty employees. Mr. Poling was president in 1914, Frederick E. Holloway vice president and Guy J. Derthrick, secretary-treasury was J.Q.A. McClurg, and the business was located at 1800 Brown, Anderson, IN.Forkner, John L. (ed). (1914).
