This collection contains an undated poem entitled "Pride of Indiana" by Sidney S. Kramer, handwritten on Sidney's Uniform Co. stationary and two booklets, "The Hoosier 'Howdy Book': Service Men's Guide to Indianapolis" published by the Indiana Bell Telephone Company in 1940 and the February, 1944 issue of This Week in Indianapolis (Vol. 17, no. 4), a tourist guide for visitors to the city
Biographical or historical data
Sidney S. Kramer was born in New York on February 29, 1912. In 1929, he moved to Evansville, Indiana, where he attended the University of Evansville. Kramer married Theresa M. Siegel and they had three children. In 1940, he lived at 908 East Guon Street, Evansville, Indiana, with "Tresa," age 25, and son Larry R., age 2. Kramer owned Sidney's Uniform Co., located at 200 Main Street in Evansville. He was a state senator from Posey and Vanderburgh counties in 1967 and 1969 and served on the 8th District Central Committee and the Republican state platform committee. Kramer was a member of the Optimists, B'nai B'rith, Governor's Youth Council, and the Regional Mental Health Planning Commission for southwestern Indiana. He retired as president of Sidney's Uniform Company in 1978 and moved to Palm Beach, Florida. Kramer died on June 22, 2007 in Sun City, Arizona.
