- Article from the Sunday, February 13, 1898 edition of the Chicago Times-Herald detailing the discovery of eight heirs to the estate of Joseph Ball (1748-1821) living in Chicago, Illinois. Joseph Ball was a cousin of United States President George Washington, and lived his entire life in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Included with the article are two genealogical charts displaying the ancestral lineage of the Ball family. Chart no. 2 traces the descendants of Captain William Ball of "Millenbeck" (1641-1694). Captain Ball was the great-grandfather of Joseph Ball (and the great-uncle of President George Washington). Chart no. 1 traces the ancestry of the Ball family from William Ball of Barkham, England to United States President George Washington (Washington's mother, Mary Ball Washington is a descendant of William Ball)
