Biographical or historical data
The Indiana China Painting School Committee of the Indiana World Organization of China Painters held classes from 1984-1988 and Elizabeth Machgan and Florence Herrmann were involved with that organization. The Indiana Art School held meetings in 1990. Its name was changed to Porcelain Art School of Indiana (PASI) on August 25, 1990 and became an independent organization, although it was originally an affiliate of the Indiana World Organization of China Painters when it was founded. PASI was incorporated in the state of Indiana on May 7, 1993 and also received a 501c3 determination letter from the IRS. Its purpose was "to bring excellent teachers of the fine art of [hand] china painting together with serious students of the art for one week each summer for the purpose of becoming better artists". Richard Willmore, James W. Holland, Elizabeth Machgan, and Florence M. Herrmann were involved in the organization's incorporation. Joseph H. Hogsett was then the Secretary of State, which office processed the articles of incorporation. Harry Hugar served as first executive director of the PASI. PASI is one of the few porcelain art schools still operating in the United States and will hold its 2017 annual school at the Morgan County, Indiana Fairgrounds, July 17-21.Information found within the collection."Porcelain Art School of Indiana".
