This single typed paper gives a short biography of Origen Thomson (1829-1882), who followed several career paths. He attended Decatur County Seminary and Hanover College. From 1850-1852, he studied medicine with Dr. Moody. Origen lived in Oregon for six years in the 1850s. He and his brother Orville published the Hoosier State newspaper in Lawrenceburg from 1858-1860. He was a surveyor for railroads and involved in the stone quarry business in Greensburg. Mr. Thomson was a Presbyterian
Biographical or historical data
Origen Thomson (1829-1882) was the son of John and Spicey Hamilton Thomson, of Scottish descent. He married twice, first to Nancy Azilla McCoy in 1860, and second to Mary J. Brown in 1880. Nancy died in 1879. Mary died in Indianapolis about 1920. Nancy and Origen had one daughter, Mrs. Lou Sebring, who lived in Tekonsha, Michigan.
