Biographical or historical data
Edwin Ross Adair was born December 14, 1907 in Albion, Indiana to Edwin and Alice Pickett Adair. He graduated from Albion High School in 1924. He received his bachelors degree from Hillsdale College in 1928, and his law degree from George Washington University in 1933. After law school, Adair returned to Indiana where he began his won law practice in Fort Wayne. He served in World War II and fought in battles throughout Europe. Adair was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-second and to the nine succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1951-January 3, 1971) until he was defeated in 1970. President Nixon gave him a position as ambassador to Ethiopia. He retire in 1975. Adair was married and had two children. He passed away May 7, 1983.
