- "These documents were found in the papers of Mazie Maud Bennett Kemper of Morristown, Indiana at her death in 1965. The holograph manuscript is in the handwriting of William E. "Billy" Lucas, born Fayette County, Indiana, 27 February 1851; died Beverly Hills, California after 1930. It appears to be the result of family history research he conducted around 1920; the rest of the MS [i.e., manuscript] appears to be lost; it is known he visited and corresponded with Mazie Kemper. The manuscript documents the migration of his grandfather Jabez Barnes Lucas and Jabez's elder brother Eber Lucas from Middletown to Fayette and Shelby Counties. The typescript appears to be partially based on MS, but its origin is unknown ; most annotations are in the hand of Mazie Kemper"--Leaf [1]
