Biographical or historical data
Lydia G. Stanton, a Quaker, was born on July 17, 1843 to James H. and Rhoda G. Stanton of Springboro, Warren County, Ohio. Her father died on October 2, 1845. She had one sister, Rebecca M. Stanton (b. 1833), and after her widowed mother married John Hadley, two stepbrothers, Henry and Seth S. Hadley. Lydia Stanton attended Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana during the early 1860s. She moved to Central Indiana after the death of her mother and stepfather. Lydia died at the age of 71 on May 27, 1916 in Carmel, Indiana and was buried in the Carmel Cemetery, Hamilton County, Indiana.
