Biographical or historical data
The Indiana Federation of Farmers' Association was founded on March 25, 1919 by farmers determined to solve problems of low commodity prices and a diminished farm labor force caused by the United States entering World War I. The organization headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana and later changed its name to the Indiana Farm Bureau.The Indiana Farm Bureau supported the McNary-Haugen Farm Relief Bill, a controversial plan from the 1920s to subsidize American agriculture by raising domestic prices of farm products. The bill never passed in Congress, even though it was submitted in 1924, 1926, 1927, and 1928. The bill was sponsors was sponsored by two Republicans, Sentator Charles L.
