Summary
This collection includes handwritten documents dating from 1871 and ending with 1879. On November 8, 1871, there were proceedings in the U.S. District Court regarding the Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Lafayette Railroad Company for adjuication of bankruptcy. The petition was filed by Joel F. Richardson and the City of Lawrenceburg. Joel was Ida's father. Other items in the collection are about the formation of the Farmers Literary and Social Society'. There are three programs, dated October and December 1878 and February 1879, entitled "The Social Hour," which are hand-written and bound with clips. The October 1878 program is Volume 1, Number 1, Marion County, Indiana, with editors Mrs. W. D. Green, Miss Emma Fry, and Miss Ida F. Richardson. Ida wrote the long poem entitled "Knowledge and Virtue" in the October 1878 issue. Her poems are in the other issues as well
Biographical or historical data
Ida F. Richardson was born December 13, 1847 to Joel Foster Richardson and Mary Avery Foster. In 1860, the family were living in Lawrenceburg, Dearborn County, Indiana. The census taker recorded J. F. Richardson, age 37; Mary, 34; Ida F., 12; B. F., 7; Thomas M., 2; and Mary I., 1. In 1930, Ida was living in Indianapolis. She died in 1932.
