A brief biography of John Handley Thompson (1781-1870) written by his granddaughter, Carolyn Strange Thompson. Judge Thompson was born in 1781 in Westmoreland County, Pennsyvlania. His father, Anthony Thompson was a Revolutionary War veteran. Judge Thompson served as a soldier in the Battle of Tippecanoe, was a state senator and representative, a circuit judge, the Indiana Secretary of State, the Indiana Lieutenant Governor, and the Receiver of the United States Land Office in Indianapolis. He passed away on April 26, 1870 in Indianapolis
