- Biographical or historical data
- Today, Brandywine Township is one of nine townships in Hancock County, Indiana and covers nearly 25 square miles. The township was organized on April 7, 1828 and named after Brandywine Creek, which runs through the township. Just prior to the Civil War in 1860, Brandywine Township's population numbered 986 people. William Service was elected the township trustee, serving between 1859 and 1869. The people of the township helped provide for the families of local men who volunteered to serve in the Union army during the American Civil War. Sources:Items in the collection.Binford, John H.
