- Summary
- Fourteen-year-old Billy Baggs has to figure out how to get along with the arch-rival in his love life and on the baseball diamond, and both boys must learn how to deal with the unfair expectations of their fathers
- Summary
- Billy Baggs and King Kenwood were born to get under each other's skin. Billy is the farm boy whose family struggled to make a living, and who had suffered the tragic loss of his older brother. King is from Flint, Minnesota's upper-class suburb, and his father is county attorney. Earlier in the summer, a group of farm kids, with Billy pitching, had beaten everyone in the area, including Flint's Home team, whose ace pitcher is King Kentwood. Worse yet, both Billy and King are interested in Suzy Langen, the pretty daughter of the county judge. If Billy and King dislike each other, then there is really bad blood between their fathers. At the final game of the summer, a rematch between the Farm and Home teams, the two boys get into a terrible fight. To stem the growing violence, the high-school baseball coach proposes a plan: Billy and King will spend a week living with each other. Can the boys tolerate each other that long? What will they find out about themselves in the process? Billy Baggs and King Kenwood are playing hardball, a game they both could lose. This book is the sequel to Farm Team. -- Description by: Tom Reynolds
