Summary
This collection includes letters and invitations sent to the Brick family from various government officials and organizations in Washington D.C ranging from 1902-1910. The invitations regard private dinners and tea parties, wedding ceremonies, and dedication events. The letters are addressed from the White House and the US Senate. The collection also includes one notebook from Estelle Brick dated 1948 regarding financial records and the purchase of savings bonds. The invitations for private dinners and tea parties were sent from individuals such as President Theodore Roosevelt and his wife Alice Roosevelt, Vice President Charles Fairbanks and his wife Cornelia Fairbanks, and Indiana Senator Albert J. Beveridge. The invitations for dedication ceremonies are to Estelle Brick from the International Bureau of the American Republics as well as the Pulaski and Kosciuszko Statue Commissions
Biographical or historical data
Estelle Brick was born in March 1890, in St. Joseph County, Indiana. She is the daughter of Abraham Lincoln Brick and Anna Meyer Brick. Abraham Brick worked as a lawyer and was served in the House of Representatives from March 4, 1899 until his death on April 7, 1908. Estelle edited two books on collections of letters and speeches that her father wrote, titled "The Letters of a Father to His Daughter" and "Addresses and Speeches by Abraham Lincoln Brick."
