- Biographical or historical data
- The Indiana Boys' School (or Reformatory) was founded southwest of Plainfield in 1867. In 1961, the Indiana General Assembly authorized the Reception-Diagnostic Center for male felons to be located one mile west of Plainfield. The Indiana Youth Center in Plainfield began construction in 1963, and was built in three phases.
