- Summary
- Dave Robicheaux, ex-New Orleans policeman whose wife was killed by drug lords, lives quietly in New Iberia, running a bait and tackle shop and taking care of Alafair, the little Central American girl he and his wife rescued from the Gulf after a plane crash. Then his friend and college roommate comes to him for help, and Dave is thrown into the violent world of professional killers and the mafia, as he follows a trail to Montana to get out of a murder rap and to save himself and those he loves. Readers may also appreciate Lawrence Block's Matt Scudder series and Ed McBain's Matthew Hope mysteries, as all feature introspective characters, detailed (although bleak) settings, and suspenseful situations.
