- Biographical or historical data
- Barbara Lake Anderson was born in Botetourt County, Virginia on May 8, 1817 to Timothy and Mary Lake. She settled in Morgan County, Indiana in 1836 and was married to Caleb Henry Renshaw Anderson, with whom she had three children, John T., Amanda and Emily Catherine, in Aug. 1837, later moving to Montgomery County, Indiana. She died July 13, 1911 and is buried in Ladoga Cemetery, Ladoga, Indiana.Emily Catherine Anderson Knox was born Dec. 31, 1842, the youngest of three children born to Caleb Henry Renshaw and Barbara Lake Anderson. She married Capt. James C. Knox in June 1888. Their daughter Nellie [Nettie] died in 1870, before her second birthday. Emily lived all her life in Ladoga, with the exception of a few years spend in Crawfordsville, Indiana. She died Jan. 14, 1969 and is buried in the Ladoga Cemetery, Ladoga, IN>Information found within the collection."Anderson, Barbara." 1850 United States Federal Census.
