- Andy Adams was born in Whitley County, Indiana on May 3, 1859. He was the son of Andrew and Elizabeth (Elliott) Adams. Adams was raised on a farm in Indiana, but as a young man, decided to seek his fortune in Texas, where he became a cowboy. After living in Texas for ten years, Adams decided to move to Colorado, where he took up mining and writing. It was at his home in Colorado Springs that he authored novels such as Log of a Cowboy and A Texas Matchmaker. Adams died in Colorado Springs on September 26, 1935.
