- Alice Rose Tucker hates Virginia City, Nevada, the gritty, dangerous silvermining town where she lives with her dad. It becomes even more dangerous when Alice Rose witnesses a murder in a dark alley. With the help of a friend and ally, Samuel Clemens, she investigates the murder and soon becomes embroiled in a conflict larger than either could have imagined
