- Summary
- This collection includes seven scrapbooks from two different family members and some miscellaneous items associated with said scrapbooks. The scrapbooks contain material from 1930 to 1957 and focus on the lives of Agnes E. Hinkle Ostrom and Cynthia Ostrom Pohlmann (although Cynthia's married name is not present in the scrapbooks). Agnes created five of the seven scrapbooks and focused her scrapbooking on her academic and married life and cover a wide variety of topics. Some of the key themes were wedding invites/announcements, material from her sorority (Kappa Alpha Theta), materials from both Butler University and Indiana University, both of which she attended as well as two scrapbooks dedicated to her high school; Shortridge High School here in Indianapolis. There are an assortment of photographs, newspaper clippings, pamphlets/brochures, dance cards, programs, tickets and a variety of items, including several corsages and a boutonniere. Cynthia created two scrapbooks and her scrapbooks tended to focus on her extracurricular activities while in high school. One focuses a lot on the sports she competed in, mainly horseback riding and swimming but also includes material from different summer camps and activities that she participated in. Her second scrapbook looked more at her high school activities and had a lot of material related to prom and class officers (she ran for several different offices). Both scrapbooks contain an assortment of photos, clippings, documents, letters/cards and other material
