Biographical or historical data
Abraham Lincoln Brick was born May 27, 1860 in St. Joseph County, Indiana to William W. and Elizabeth (Calvert) Brick. He was one of at least nine children. He attended Yale and Cornell Universities and was graduated from the University of Michigan in 1883. He married Anna Elizabeth Meyer on November 11, 1884 in St. Joseph County, and they had two children, William Meyer, who was born August 4, 1888 and died February 9, 1889 of uremic poisoning, and Estelle, who was born January 1, 1890 and died during January 1951; who edited two books of his speeches and letters. He was a member of the law department faculty of the University of Notre Dame from which he received the LL.B. and M.L. degrees. He practiced law in South Bend, Indiana in 1883 and was the proscecuting attorney for St. Joseph and La Porte Counties in 1886. He was a member of the Republican State Central Committe in 1890; a delegate to the Republic National Convention in 1896, and congressman for the 13th Indiana district from 1899-1908. He visited the Panama Canal during his tenure on the Appropriations Committee in 1907. He died April 7, 1908 in Indianapolis, Indiana and is buried in the Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, Indiana.
